Mike Fry - photo by Fyn Day

Mike Fry has worked in the music industry since 1985, starting his career at Chysalis Music then going on to work at several high profile London recording studios including Utopia, Morgan, and Battery Studios. He gained valuable experience of recording and production techniques working alongside some great artists, producers, and engineers, including Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, Gary Moore, Sam Brown, Tim Friese-Greene, and Gary Langan.

Mike Fry now lives in Chichester, West Sussex, where he works with (in his own words) "a rich vein of local talent". He produced local singer-songwriter, and subsequently highly acclaimed support to Katie Melua at the Chichester RAJF 2010, Sarah Saville's album Transparent. Mike Fry is also regularly involved in international community arts projects.

As a writer and composer Mike Fry has undertaken commissions from such diverse sources as The Aldeburgh Festival, Channel 4's Grand Designs, and Victoria Beckham, co-writing the song for her first dress collection video. He is also resident songwriter at Spirit FM, a commercial radio station in West Sussex. Mike Fry brings songs to life with his multi-instrumental and singing talents, and his understanding of style and context.

Described by Spirit FM as "an utterly engaging performer", you must see Mike Fry live in one of his many guises, be it as a solo acoustic singer-songwriter or with any of the many bands and duos in which he plays: Mike Fry & the FT, The Somewhere Band, The 'MoGee, Undersound, Turnaround, and Smith & Fry.

Mike Fry will sprinkle your life with fairy dust.

Now Mike Fry brings you The Memories of 7lb Jackson, his
first solo project for several years. Recorded in West Sussex, the 13-track album, in the Acoustic and Folk Blues genres, features instrumentals and songs about songs, love, loss, hope, and hangovers. Some lyrical, some joyful, some lovely and some painful, but each always an emotional memory of living. With influences from Bob Dylan to Davy Graham, and styles from love ballads to Balkans folk music, you'll find something new and absorbing each time you listen.
